Ok guys i'm looking for a little advice on what to do next. Looking to spend about $500 right now and wanna get the best gains for my money.... Duh but i already have an injen cai and a dual cat back. Looking at gettin pulleys, a plenum spacer and test pipes. My goal is to get some better top end cuz at about 110mph acceleration is retarded slow and it pisses me off! So do you think those things would be the best or what advice can you give. Thanks!!!

 

Go FI , it takes a lot of HP to move a car faster once up at thise speeds. Just spend your money on brakes, tires and track time. Getting a better drive from a corner may get you up past your 110 mark.

a member of my family owns a huge industial parkways and the main road that all the buisness are off of is 4 lanes wide 3 miles long and all perfect blacktop.

 

Any parts you buy just make a different noise and look different under your hood. A few hp's gain maybe. A total waste of money. The car has maybe 245 RWHP and another 10 to 15 more isn't even noticeable. Save your money. Been there, done that and sold all that BS when I finally went FI - 385 RWHP. Just trying to help you save money in today's economy. You can spend thousands on all the headers and exhausts and intakes you want and get very little. When I did it I sold all that nonsense for pennies.

The turbo, ten grand or so all in. Loved how it pulls in all gears to 150-160 or more mph. Would I do it again? Not really. Can't sell the car with the Turbo on it so I need to remove it and part it out. It only took a few seconds off my time at the track so big deal. The warranty goes bye-bye when you add it. See what I mean. You think it's all cool to do but in the end, money is money. If I had keys to the time machine I would go back and leave the car just the way it is.

A friend of mine reasoned out our joint outrageous outlay of money would have been better spent on buying a good used BMW M3 for two years, running it at the track and selling it and then buy the un-modded 350Z at the end. The money we spent on all of our mods including the turbo was close to $25,000 grand, the same amount we would have lost on the M3.

Anybody else think the same or differently let me hear it!

 

I dont agree with going F/I unless you have another car and a good amount of $ on the side. There is a big chance something will go wrong, and by looking at your budget i say just go with bolt ons especially since you already have an intake/exhaust. Your pretty much on the right track, plenum spacer, testpipes will both help u with your goal.

 

try tuning, best bang for the buck, but yea, for 500 your ant going to see anything better. I wouldnt turbo my z unless i had another car and was a racer. NOS, but be prepared for **** breaking.

 

Skip pulleys. Get a Motordyne plenum spacer and test pipes.

 

How about all three? lol, ur pulley can be had for under $90 shipped used from here. They all are good mods for the Z

The only pulleys I'd consider getting would be ones with steel sleeves inserted in and then I'd be leary. With UD pulleys you'll get accessory power loss.

 

spend it on a couple of track days... $500 wont get you much in terms of hp - but 2 track days will be real fun!
