Default 4.083 FD VS Zex nitrous kit

Hi guys

I am modifying my Z to get a decent 1/4 mile time and I was wondering if I should go with a ZEX nitrous system or a 4.083 final drive (I will get a tune in both cases with osiris or utec)??? What do you think about it... I would like to have your opinion please...

thanks

Let me help you here.....you say you want to run the 1/4 mile. Changing the FD to the 4.08 might get you .3 better in the 1/4. I can assure you N20(depending on the amount you spray) will get you much more than .3 in the 1/4.

thanks, but FD will not hurt the engine what about nitrous??? I just want to know what would you do if you were at my place (I don't want to go FI lol) FD will give more acceleration all the time but certainly affects MPG and nitrous will give more power when I will be drag racing... What about the driving pleasure... I never try a car with one of those mods it's why I need your help to decide...

There's always the chance that nitrous will hurt the motor, but with the right tune and not going crazy(no more than 75-100shot) you should be fine and have a fast car for the 1/4 mile. My Z is TT and N20 and when I was racing we pushed it to the limits. As for daily driving, your car will drive fine with the N20.

If you go nitrous, just make sure its done right with a solid tune. BTW the Utec is very user friendly with N20

If I goes with Utec I think it should be better to go with the NX nitous kit then with the Zex kit that is specific for VQ35DE... I think that there is problems setting it with the UTEC because it has always been set by ZEX...

Do you think I'm better to go with a NX universal kit (maybe with nitrous directly install on each injector--> should be best than ZEX wich nozzle is in the intake)???

NX and Zex are both good kits...I have Zex with no issues and a Utec. You do not need direct port, spraying into the intake tube will be just fine.

One makes horsepower and the other does not. And what is a decent quarter mile time? There are decent naturally aspirated times and decent forced-induction times. Not the same class.

As an experienced drag racer you should know that you can fine tune ET and trap speed with things like final gear and tire size.

My recommendation is that if you want to be a drag racer than race with the car as is. After gaining experience and winning, then make a decision about forced-induction. And forced-induction is no windfall. It just moves you up into a class with the big boys.

thanks guys

I know that a nitrous kit will give me a better 1/4 mile time but I'm not sure of what I want... It's the reason why I ask your opinion... I wanna know what you guys think about this, what would ou choose and why...

but now I should decide if I want a bit more power in a daily driver or a better quarter mile time
