Default Jerk when switching gears.

I have used the search engine and have failed to find anything on this.

I have been driving my 03 Z for a little over a month now, but have been driving a standard for a few years. So its not me thats the problem.

When I go to shift into a higher gear it feels like a jerk almost as if it goes into a higher rev then the gear should be in. Does not do it all the time but it just doesnt feel right.

almost like a rev match feel. Hard to explain the problem, but that was the best way possible.

nevermind i realized what the problem was.

the rpms shoot down so fast i wasnt switching gears fast enough and the rpm was to low when i switched causing the car to jerk.

I went from a 2007 ford focus to a 2005 350z... You think you had problems shifting too slow... LOL... You have no idea...

you will get the hang of it. the Z is not a really easy car to drive smooth; It was my first stick car but I got it quick...

Agreed, I've been driving manuals for 20 years, and shifting the Z into 2nd smoothly is a tough proposition.

I find my shifts to be smoother when I shift slow. The Z has a tendency to let the rpm "hang" for a second before dropping at a faster rate, which is why I shift so slow. A lightweight flywheel should help cure some of this though.
