I read in this forum that removing the silencer on the stock intake improves the flow of air and sound. Not sure if it's true but I'd like to give it a shot.
It goes through the frame at the very front end of the intake box. It is a tubelike piece of plastic. Short. Sorry, I have not seen a G35 under the hood.

If any hot air gets in it will be such a marginal amount it won't make a difference. The increase in volume will far outweigh it. This is not a huge mod or anything but I would seriously not worry about hot air from it. That is like worrying about driving in boots vs tennis shoes for the weight difference. Who cares 99% of the time. Now if you bolted on the Tommy Kaira throttle bodies you may want to worry about hot air. The whole CAI thing is such a hype. They benefit cars that are restricted by unrestricting them more than they do by getting "cold" air. The Z intake is not exactly restricted. And tell everyone to remove all subwoofers from the cars because of the added weight. The sub adds music and so does removing the silencer. Negatives minimal if there are any.
