Default JUN Flywheel!

Just want to thank everyone who posted on flywheels.. I just found out today that im in need of a new trans.. So I quickly came on here and looked up flywheels and was able to get info on it and where to get it... So I went on and ordered it and having it overnited to the dealership!!

They said they will honor the drivetrain warranty just not the flywheel witch is fine since ill have the original..

So Thanks to all and will give my impressions on Monday..

ummmm let me think..... NO its not user error.. My car had 2000k miles on it and I wasnt running it that hard since it was brand new.. This is not my first stick car either..

The first problem was a loud scraping/thumping noise.
The second was when shifting from first to second and second to third it was real notchy felt like something was in the way and heard a clunck.. This started happening about 1000k after the new tranny install..

Im not the only 1 with this problem and I do drive normal not always racing.

aceman what are your impressions about the flywheel??

No, I've been driving stick longer than you have probably been alive. There was a design flaw in the original transmissions synchros. The part number for the original transmission has since been superceded with a new one, due to revised engineering.

Does that mean the 2004 models shouldn't have the tranny problem anymore?

yes, but they could still have old stock they are using. The defective transmission is part #32010-CD005, the new one is 006. I would assume they would use the new one in current production.

Unfortunately, when mine was replaced in July, I got the old part number.

That sucks.. Im not sure on what one I will get.. I just talked to my service manager to make sure my flywheel got there.. And it was and he told me how excited the crew was when he told them there was going to be an after market install.. He told me he will do whatever i want from exhaust to Nitrous... It would be expensive but might be a good thing to keep in the back of my mind...

4 more days to go!!!!

I actually think the Z tranny is very weak. Granted I had done a really bad burnout, but I had done some really bad burnouts in my Type R and I didn't have to replace my clutch as quickly as I had done on the Z. Obviously if people are replacing the trannys so quickly says something about the strength of the Z clutch.

Congrats on the Jun flywheel. The guys at SGP are great and the clutch is great.
