That's like me dyno's up here in Denver putting down 240.1 supposedly uncorrected as the shop said. That's 301rwhp corrected with exhaust, intake, headers 'n no cats.... riiiiiggghhhhtttttt. I wont beleive 50rwhp from exhaust & CAI, unless if you found some paradoxial thermodynamics exhaust $hit that causes the car to soo easily lay down 310. Crazyness, maybe there is a matrix!

dont get me wrong, im not saying he/you didnt roll a 310whp with ONLY the listed mods! im just saying if the dyno did (and i have seen the sheet) say 310whp, then that dyno has lost ALL credibility to me! but congradulations on winning! if it measured your car wrong, then it measured ALL the cars wrong! that still means you mad the most hp there! (were just not sure what it REALY was?

What concerns me the most is that you got a better run than Richard350z who ran on the same dyno. He has way more mods that should have blown your car away, but for some reason didn't.

So your saying your Y-pipe, intake, and pulley's made the other 50 whp? LOL

As I have understood, from Mossy nissan we have dyno numbers from 3 different cars
-282rwhp
-301rwhp
-310rwhp
I actually found the 282rwhp to be quite an accomplishment as was actually kind of surprised to see his list of mods getting the car to 282.

i cant figure out how to quote from one post to another, so try this. take a look at the 301whp mossey thread, page 7, last post! something along the lines of "the power peaks like boost. not very linear." you mean like n2o???

Now you are all saying it's BS. That's fine. Raceboy challenged Greg at Mossy to test their mule (equipped just like my car plus 19" wheels with wider tires and some cosmetic mods) on another dyno of raceboy's choosing. Greg accepted the challenge.
Originally, I was going to stay out of the challenge. Now I am reconsidering. If it is not too far from my house/office, and on a day when I can make it, I will have my car dyno-ed again. One of you guys who is calling BS can pay for my dyno. If you agree, PM me.

You don't seem to be very specific with your answers and that is why I doubt the claim that you made 310 rwhp with those mods you listed.

Ok...Heres a question. (or a few)
Where there any stock Z's dyno'ing that day?
What were the HP numbers from some of the other Z's in this contest? Has there ever been a baseline done on this blessed dyno?

OK, I looked at the specs of the MD-250-P This dyno, can't measure crank HP, so that idea is out. I'm assuming it was this one:
So, I'm out of ideas right now.
Richard350z, don't get me wrong, I totally believe both of you guys that your car dyno'd at that HP, the problem I have is with the power curve and the fact that Dat measured a higher HP rating than you. With your mods you should've whooped his butt, but for some reason you didn't.
The HP curve is not normally that linear and the Torque should start dropping at around 5300RPM. There is something weird about the way this dyno works and I'm not smart enough on dyno's to know what it is.

Since HP is just a measurement of Torque and RPM, now that I look at it, the Torque curve is the one that is causing your HP rating to be so high. I believe the formula is (HP X TQ)/ 5250 Perhaps this particular dyno starts to become less accurate at measuring torque when the rollers hit a certain speed.

All I wish is that we can find a conclusion to all of this. I really want to know what this car will do N/A. Let's not make this a flame war, noone knows really what is going on. So noone should be disrespected, period.
Dat, I would love to believe your dyno, but if it is to be true, then it casts every other dyno into doubt. Really, a baseline should be done on your car, maybe you have that rare perfect diamond, and yours left the factory with 250-260+ at the wheels. Who knows, but a baseline before and after would solve a lot of this.

Me thinks Dat is running a 50-shot...
No exhaust is going to add 50rwhp to this car. You could run headers and straight pipe all the way back and you wouldn't gain 50rwhp. Hell, you could run headers, NO pipes, and tune it to run that way and it probably wouldn't pick up 50 rwhp.
Further, he mentioned in the other thread that the dyno had "peaks, like it was on boost".. just the way a N20 dyno would read.
Sorry, I don't think the dyno is that far off... I can believe the Mossy car hit 282 and that Richard could even be a little higher than that. If we assume the dyno is 15-20hp off, then Dat still ran 290 with only a custom exhaust?
Yeah, right... me thinks is Nitrous and someone has been sniffing a bit too much of it when writing his comments...

Richard... I look forward to someone taking you up on this so you can prove the numbers are accurate.
The synergy of a well matched intake, cam, and exhaust system (headers back) will produce numbers that are greater than a sum of the parts. So, I think your numbers are probably close to right... I have no problem believing you are hitting between 285-300rwhp.
What I can't accept is that someone hit 310 with a "super top-secret" exhaust mod... someone's not fully disclosing there...

What's up guys. I didn't believe it myself. I told Greg I hope I put out 250whp on the day of the dyno. I'm not saying that the dyno was correct. I'm just happy that I put out more than the other competitors out there. Anybody who lives in San Diego is more than happy to check out the car. I'm not on Nos or anything. To be honest, I would like to figure out how I put out that much power too. I did dyno twice. I couldn't believe it, and neither did the guys who dyno'd it, so we did it again, same result. What I can tell you is that when I put the y-pipe on, definitely felt a big difference. Had other friends drive the car as well. They also felt a big gain. I don't think that it's just the Y-Pipe, but maybe the Y-Pipe and all other mods are working quite well with each other. Who knows, maybe where I put the CAI made a big difference? Really can't tell ya! I would be more than happy to dyno the car elsewhere. As long as someone sponsors the run! Don't want to spend any more money on dyno time. Maybe I can talk to XS Engineering and set something up. But for now, I'm just going to enjoy the car!
