Default mm g35 rad / mm 350z fan shroud

I am new to this forum and was wondering what is the best wiring schematic for the mm dual 12" fans? I do not have a FI setup at all, but the fans will be arriving pretty soon. Thanks.

Thanks Big C for the post threads. I thought I did enough reading on the cooling aspect for the G35, but I guess I was wrong. I will use post 12 for the wiring scheme on my G. The other option was to shave the OEM fan shroud and see if I could squeeze it in. Just a thought. How is the fan working with the new wiring setup Big C?

its a pull type fan so its drawing air through the bumper -> AC condenser -> radiator and into the engine bay.

ok i been bleedin the air out of the coolant system because i just upgraded with an ams rad the mishimoto fan shroud and a breather tank. now the two fans work at different tempertures right? i idled the car for close to an hour and only my one fan driver side was turning on and not the other but also i would turn the ac on and still the driver side fan would kick is this correct does the other fan only turn on if im driving the car to reach higher temps?

the 2nd fan should only turn on when at the high temp (210F) trigger or when the A/C is on. i've also heard both fans will turn on when you hit the defrost (since this also triggers the A/C?), but i have not verified it.

how did the install go with this controller? sharif@forged mentioned you were using this controller with good results. i'm using the stock wiring right now, but would like to have more control over when & how the fans operate.

I use the stock HI speed relay as a trigger for the controller for high speed operation. It works off the temp sensor the rest of the time (for the PWM variable speed operation). The install is slightly painful just because you have to run wires everywhere and get a coolant temp sensor fed in, but it's not bad. You can download the manual off the DIF site I believe if you want to take a look at what wires you need to tap into.

This unit is very nice because it will allow the high powered SPAL fans run quietly even with the AC on (maintains min 50% duty cycle). Before operating one fan for low speed and then the other for high speed, my car always sounded like a jet plane.

i have my fans wired up the way it was said here to do it with the 2 into 1 wires and they are connected right but my driver side fan turns on with both low temp and A/C and the other fan has not turned on it. even if i unplug the 2 clips at the base of the rad and switch them it still runs the same? im lost here

^^^ Well it's just a simple relay and 12v, so a little testing with a multimeter should get you sorted out if you're familiar with how relays work. Even if you are not familiar, a quick read on "relays" via this link should get you what you need to know to troubleshoot:

http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/hweb2.pdf (look at page 9 for the standard automotive relay).

The problem is either your trigger, the 12V line or ground, the relay, or the fan.

I figured I would bump this thread since lately the weather has been 100+. Some of you are FI and know that keeping engine temps down is crucial.

1.)I wanna know if you guys are still using these fans and are your temps staying down?Ive kept up w/this thread an it seems that those of us with the mishimoto dual 12' and shroud have upgraded one of thier fans to a 14' because of the lack of cfm. If im reading this thread right, most of you moved to a different manufactuer and a spal fan?

2.)Does anyone know if an atermarket controller + mishimoto fans will keep an FI car cool? By using an aftermarket engine temp controller, some of you managed to turn your spal fans on before the pre-set temps and kept your cars running cool but im trying to keep from replacing my fans.

3.) Do you guys think by replacing one of the 12' fans (the one that turns on first) w/another 14' mishimoto fan keep the car cooler then dual 12' fans? Would you suggest ditching the 12'dual set up for summit products as suggested?

Reason behind my rambling is because I just got my haltech ems installed and boost will be raised to 7psi.

Its hot as chett outside and my tuner is worried that 12' mishimoto fans aren't doing what they are said to do, "notably improve engine cooling performance by delivering more air to the 350Z radiator and driving out excess heat "

Im worried about overheating during the tuning process so Im having my oem fans put back in.

My DIF controller is still working great. I've got it to turn on at 190 - keeps coolant temps below 200 no matter what the condition.

so in other words; rcdash you swapped one of your fans out for a spal+fic? If so was it because of the lack of cfm?

Chris

Good decision on at least having one Spal fan. I currently run the dual 11" Spal Setup with good luck on my Z32 along with their controller. For those of you curious the Spal fans and controller are awesome. The DIF controller I have used in a customer's car works pretty good.

The Spal controller offers some really nice features.

I'm running dual 12" SPAL fans with a custom fan shroud wired per the diagrams in this thread. One can turns on for low speed(I.E. A/C on or 190 degree temps). The second fan turns on for high speed(I.E. 212 or about temps). My second fan rarely turns on.
