Default Engine Pull

How long should it take to remove the engine, working alone or as a 2 man team at times when needed?

I'm a weekend mechnic who has mostly worked on Hondas and Acuras to date. I'm studying up with the service manual and it looks like a whole weekends work.

That's a really hard question to answer without knowing how much you know about the car. The first one i did with someone telling me what to do took all day. Now i can pull one in 3 hours, just think ahead and don't make mistakes!

Cool,

I've been looking through the manual and removing parts slowly to gain access and visibility, however, I wondering if the front suspension member has to come out if the engine is being pulled out the top vs the service manual's method of dropping the motor off a lift.

Take the front bumper, front support, drain the rad, remove rad support, unbolt the motor mounts, then remove the intake, unplug all wires, mark if u have too. Then pull it threw the front......

Thanks GT-Z, That was the direction I was thinking it would need to go without a lift.

R&Ring is the easy part. Rebuilding is where time and money starts spitting out like crazy. If you're just removing, it's just like the Honda's and Acura's you've been working on.

Quick question guys, I'm gonna do most of the work today but I wondered if this method requires the tranny to only be loosen'd up or does it require it to be dropped to get the engine and clutch assembly off the main shaft?

If the car is high enough off the ground then yes, you can remove them together. Getting the front end on jackstands is high enough. You would have to remove the transmission crossmember (4 bolts i believe and its easy) to disconnect it from the car. Then just make sure you disconnect the speed sensor and neutral switch from the transmission. Also, on the way out make sure you watch for the power steering rack and the hardlines on it.

The whole process is pretty simple and shouldn't take long. Good Luck.
