Why not go 3.9's? My 4.08's are GREAT!

I want streetability man, 4.0 gears are a bit too much for me right now. The 3.7 FD setup can be bought at Z1 from Adam. I have a 5at so 3.7 will feel like a brand new car.

3.9 is the way to go if your an automatic, and 4.08 is the way to go if your manual.

Either way great find!! I am planning the same thing for mine within next few months...damn good to know i can possibly get the manual pumpkin for cheap!!

I wonder if going from a 3.3 to only a 3.5 would provide any noticable difference in acceleration for the AT.

I see your point.

Ive heard from those with 3.9 in their auto's that its VERY streetable, your in no way peeling out everywhere and burning through 1-2-3 while normal driving. But when you let on it, you BURN through the first 3 in no time.

Very noticable.

3.5 for us would be same as 3.7 for manual. A noticable difference, but you can do better.

I just picked one up as well, but my is a 3.3. Turbo 6spd with open dif. FTL. The 3.3 VLSD should be nice.

the longer FD would be great for cars with FI so they have more revs to play around with.

Ive thought about the idea of getting a used MT diff with 3.5 gears and VLSD and just replace the 3.3 in mine, but i dont know how big of a difference it'll make. Ideally id go for the 3.9, but thats quite a bit of money to spend with obtaining a 3.5 MT pumpkin and properly installing the 3.9 gears PLUS reinstalling the new pumpkin.

Another thing is that I do alot of highway miles. I feel that my MPG will suffer quite a bit if i go with something like the 3.9 FD

Yes I am!! I wanted to do the 3.5 FD swap next week but i will wait and see if i make up my mind for the 3.7 or maybe even the 3.9? I really want to improve the gearing because it just feels a bit sluggish with the 3.3FD. The AT tranny could handle a bit more grunt plus i have the Transgo Kit installed so it would be a world of difference!!

Good luck on this. I say install it now and see how you like it!! If you are somewhat mechanically inclined then it's pretty easy to remove, but heavy. Just make sure you have a jack with a nice big platform so you can use as a platform.

Am going to have a shop install it Gabe, do you think i should just install the 3.5fd for now and then do the gears later??? I was looking into the swap but man is a bit pricey right now.

Not if you intend to have a shop do it..........save yourself the extra expense and replace the gears all at once.

I got my car tuned today with Osiris!! I was talking to the tuner and he suggested to go 3.9FD as well. He said that it would make the Tranny wayyyyy faster and better.

General rule of thumb is a 5% reduction in gearing, will net 1% more acceleration.
