Default What is cold idle rpm for 2008 Nissan 350Z?

Hi.

I just bought a 2008 350Z and it seems to be idling too high when it is cold (i.e. started first thing in morning), about 1,750 rpm. My 2005 350Z didn't idle so high when cold.

Does anyone know what the proper cold idle speed for a 2008 is?

Thanks,

Darren

do you mean when you first start the car? (cold)

if yes then it's completely normal should go down after a few secs though

When I first start my '07 it's at 2K, after letting it sit and warm up for about 30 seconds it drops to around 800-1000

Same here, my 07 will be up high when nut run for several days. I live in a tropical area and it doesnt get much colder than 60. It'll jump up that high on a cold start. I cant immagine what you all see durring winter temps. It'll die down a few seconds after startup.

Default Thanks for the feedback

Good to know that this is normal. My 2005 Z didn't idle as high when cold so I was concerned that the 1,750 rpm was too high.

It does come down as you indicated.

From the threads, I understand that the warm idle is 650 +/- 50 rpm. Does the service manual also indicate what the cold idle setting should be?

Thanks again.

Darren

My '08 with less than 1000 miles immediately goes to about 1750rpms. Then it drops a little, starts missing for half a second or so, then goes back to running smoothly at 1750 for several seconds. It gradually slows down to a normal idle after that with no more missing. It'll slow down a little faster when I step on the brake, and I'll wait until it's down to 1000 before shifting out of Park. Total elapsed time is 25-30 seconds.

I took it to the local dealer yesterday. They kept the car overnight and most of today. They say it's not showing any codes, and the cold start performance of my car is normal for a Z.

^I thought all the cars do the same when first start up in cold?

My previous cars did the same. I have a ford work van that does the same.
