OS Giken vs. Drexler LSD
hi!
i want to upgrade my OEM lsd and now i read many threads about the different types ... actually the os giken is the best lsd that you can buy, but now i read about drexler and i don't understand what's the difference that makes the drexler to the holy grail ...
infos for the os giken: https://my350z.com/forum/drivetrain/...lock-lsds.html
infos for the drexler: http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ne&prodid=3935
the os giken is smooth and locks up to 100% ... perfect as i think ... the drexler as i now has to be customized with the lock you prefer ... hmmm ... could anyone explain me, why the drexler is such more expensive as the os giken
thanks!

Its just the next tier up in differentials, and really geared towards more motorsport oriented applications. These are more done on a totally customized basis, much like one would design and build their own camshaft or piston, or coilover for example. That customization comes at a cost. Every aspect of it is user defined, such as the ramp angles on the cams inside, the clutch pack preload (or lack). The low preload aspect of them means that they always lockup, no matter what the road condition (or if one wheel comes off the ground). The OS Giken can be configured in a similar fashion, again on a custom order basis, and for additional cost.
Here is a short article that you may find helpful Thomas - we supplied the OS Giken diff for this test, which was done earlier in the year

thanks adam, one question about the os giken ... in winter we have very snowy streets in austria ... does the os giken lsd get the power to both wheels or is it like the quaife, that if one wheel cannot get power to the ground the other wheel does nothing?!
