LSD Swap from trackedition to Basemodel open differencial - what do I need?
I got a deal for an OS Giken LSD with everything shipped to Germany for 1930 Dollar, which is pretty expensive. Now I got a great deal for the 07 oem lsd from the track edition, who went to the OS Giken LSD. Sure its not as good as the Giken, but everything is better than an open differencial.
My question is now: What to I need additional to the LSD?
Thanks,
Alex

Quaife is plug and play...literally.. I have it - installed it myself (over a year ago) and have YET to have any issues with it.. I dont know about the 07/08 comment, but Ive never heard of that. You can also use the existing axles from your base setup.. It may seem more expensive but when you get a clutch type diff and get the axles - it ends up being the about the same price..

2 questions:
1.What about "cheaper" lsds like Nismo, Cusco. Are they also "plugnplay"?
2.What WILL I need addional to the LSD?
THanks,

Thanks for your help.
2 questions:
1.What about "cheaper" lsds like Nismo, Cusco. Are they also "plugnplay"?
They are cheaper but again you will have to get the axles off a vlsd car for it to work. I also believe that these come with the bearings installed on them already. So no - its not plug and play unless you get the axles (which costs more), then it should be
2.What WILL I need addional to the LSD?
That depends - are you installing it? If not - just take it to a shop and they will take care of everything.
IF you are you will need a shim kit, some white out (to check mating of final gear and drive shaft) - you also may want to read up on "backlash", some thread locker (Blue), a torque wrench, 12, 14, and 17mm sockets and a extra pair of hands cause that thing is heavy. And some beer - cant forget that last part...
THanks,
Alex

Going from a base open diff to a Quaife designed for non-VLSD cars requires no trimming.

That only applys to conventional plate type LSD's, the quaife is an ATB helical LSD.
You need some homework..
