Default not a typical clutch question

Hey guys,

I am trying to find a clutch that will conform to my temporarily handicapped left leg.

My problem: OEM clutch fatigues my leg quite a bit. I have problems even standing for longer than 5 minutes. I bought the Z before i had this accident.

My question: in order to alleviate some of the discomfort, i am looking for a set-up that will be easier to engage. Am i looking for a lightweight flywheel or a lightweight clutch or both?

I have read that excedy's stage 1 clutch is appropriate for my stock Z (soon to have full exhaust) but will it be easier to engage?

i have seen threads about what clutch to buy ( brand specific) but my question is more geared to what clutch specifications should i be looking for to make shifting easier. I apologize if this is a fail thread.

So what you are really after is a clutch pedal that is very easy to push?
If so you need to get the lightest clamp load pressure plate you can get for the car, No performance pressure plate.

Higher clamp load cannot have a lighter pedal, It probably feels lighter because you were use to your stock clutch which was probably worn out. As a disk wares the clamp load increases as does the pedal pressure.

With a lighter flywheel and daily driving, you'll probably end up putting pressure on the clutch more often than a stock flywheel. As Cuztompartz stated, try to find a clutch with the least amount of clamp load. I think the stock one will have one of the lower clamp loads, performance pressure plates only get higher and harder.

You should also look into the d-wolf clutch pedal kit i believe it raises the engagement point of your clutch so it should be less leg effort for you.

i could be wrong but i thought twin plates have a lighter pedal as the plates do not require as much force since there are 2.

Another alternative is to find a larger diameter clutch slave cylinder. This reduces the effort you have to exert on the clutch. I don't think anyone makes one for the Z, but it wouldn't be difficult to adapt one, as long as you get the piston travel long enough to engage and disengage the clutch.
