Stillen Supercharged Roadster
(This is also posted in the Roadster Forum)
Supercharger is now installed on the Roadster. Few more odds and ends and I will be driving it tomorrow. Dirito Brothers Nissan in Walnut Creek did the install. E-Tech Collision did the paint (no fender blending per my request, just unbelievable matching). Let me know what you think (and don't complain about the wheels - they're next).

The dealer installed it. What I like better about the Stillen is the 3 year engine warranty, and that I have yet to hear about one blowing up. I have heard of several ATI's blowing up.

You're going to here more issues from the ATI, because of the abundance of them being sold. Lots of LOUSEY installers AND tuners.
To date... you're the FIRST Stillen kit owner I've read about.

The warranty is through Stillen, not Nissan. However, Nissan's warranty is only void to the extent that the supercharger causes damage. There are at least a few Stillen SC's on this forum. As far as I can tell, they have been happy. The main difference that I can see between the Stillen and the ATI is that the ATI requires tuning after installation. In the tuning process, the bad tuners screw it up. The Stillen is straight bolt-on with no tuning, so no danger of tuning error.
I was concerned about putting the hood on, and for that reason, considered the ATI. The hood looks so good, I'm glad I did it.
I'll let you know how it drives once I get it back.

ravaz,
That is exactly what I understood from your posts. Because I do not have a tuner I trust to work on my car, I was very concerned about having the same thing happen to me. So, I went with the Stillen, which does not require tuning. I'm sure the ATI is great when it is installed right, I just didn't want to have to deal with an improper installation.

Reported issues for the stillen SC are heat related. It performs great while running cool, but it's been known to heat up and ping. Apparently its an open issue and stillen has a intercooler in the works to resolve this. They've been telling people to use higher octane (or octane boosters) to avoid the pinging. Pretty unacceptable, if you ask me. Especially if you have to drop more $ to buy an intercooler from them to fix the problem.
In any case, congrats on the SC. Are you gonna take it to a strip and do the proper thing with a FI install and get some trap speeds, or are you gonna be lame and tell us "its quick, I like it!"

I will ultimately get it to the track. A buddy wants to share dyno time, so that may be first. My real race car is going to the real shop on Monday ('67 Camaro - 468 CID, 11.5:1, 2500 stall Turbo 400). Once that is back, I'll take both to the track. The Stillen comes with a piggy-back that controls only the additional injector. The dealer still has the car to finish tying up the loose ends. Once I know the total, I'll let you know.
With regard to the octane booster, I will probably use it anyway. It may add cost, but the insurance value is worth it. As you can imagine, my other car requires it as well.
As far as the AT goes, the Stillen website is a little misleading. The 6MT came out first, and the AT application was second. If you go to the specific 350Z list of parts, you will see the 6MT.

That hood looks Kick a$$ good if you ask me. It really look better with the factory bumper then with stillens bumper. I like it, hope your plans is to buy the intercooler when it comes out. I bet you will get some good numbers once an intercooler is installed. congrats on you new toy

"I have heard of several ATI's blowing up."
Ahhhh, Two. One had several other potential reasons and the other apparently had tuning issues.
I DO really love that hood though!
