Default 08 z weird clutch

Having a little Clutch issue. I have an 08 z with 4000 miles. Sometimes the clutch pedal sticks when i rev the car high in first. I don't mean racing but like when your merging into a lane an you have to take off fast. This has happened twice now. the pedal sticks and once it engageds you have the burnt clutch smell. Iv dove stick my whole life so know it's not me. Also when shifting into second the car is very bouncy. Shifting through all the other gears are fine but it's second that when the gear engages it's very bouncy.

I'm not sure about the clutch sticking (could be slave cylinder?) but it takes some people time to shift smoothly into 2nd in the Z. My old RSX-S was very fincky as well. Try to ease up a bit when letting out the clutch or shift at a lower rpm.

there is a recall on clutch slave cylinders for '07 Zs and some '08s as well. give nissan your VIN and see if your car falls within the recall group and they'll replace it for free

In the VQ35HR section:

"Nissan has issued a Voluntary service campaign on the 2007 350z mt clutch slave cylinder

Campaign ID p7252

Vehicles that qualify"

JN1BZ34**7M500002 to 552786
JN1BZ36A*7M650021 TO 654836

Call 1800 nissan 1 w/ you vin # to see if it qualifies.. "

To me it seems 08's are affected as well. Suggest making a complaint here: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/
even if you do get it fixed.

Unless it's consistently occuring or if you could replicate the same situation, it would be hard to prove to the dealer that something is wrong. Doesn't hurt going in though.

I'm having the exact same issue on my '08. I just submitted a complaint to the NHTSA website. Thanks for the link.

I can't suggest enough to have the slave cylinder recall done on your cars as soon as possible, mine (07) was not nearly as bad as described above but clutch was very jerky when engaging and would sometimes drop for no reason, they just fixed it under the recall last weekend for me and the car drives completely different- very smooth, no hesitation when engaging, etc. I was worried about having it done but I'm very happy that I did, it really made a huge difference for how the clutch engages and I haven't had the same issue occur since.

RSX clutch > Z clutch
