Hi everyone, hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction here, or at least provide an explanation. I tried searching for pulley noise, but just got a bunch of threads about superchargers.
Well the front of my engine, around the pulley area, is making a loud noise. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, because the car drives no different. It sounds like the pulleys are making noise, so that's what I searched for, but came up with nothing. Everyone has been pointing it out lately and asking me what's wrong with the car, but I have no answer for them because it drives fine. Its not a belt noise, it sounds more like metal on metal. It only recently started doing this, and I've owned the car for a few years now.
If this is not common and nobody knows what I'm talking about, I'll try to take a video of the sound so I can be further assisted. I don't want to just take it a shop or the dealer and tell them to fix it without any knowledge of what it is because they'll start monkeying around with everything.
PS: For reference, engine is completely stock with about 42k miles and maintenance is all up to date.
Thanks in advance.

Maybe take it to a mechanic? I mean if its loud enough that people are asking you whats wrong with it, it may be time to have it looked at by a pro instead of my350z.com rocket scientists.
Let us know what it is when you find out.
