6k out of warranty!

factory drivetrain is 6 yrs 70k.

Yes, i figured it might be out of warranty but i'm sure this consumption problem didn't start all of a sudden. I mentioned the warranty because i figured someone would have it looked at and replaced before getting that high of miles.

I also thought it was the rev-up that had the consumption problem. I haven't heard many 03's that needed it so chances are your engine is just worn out.

+1

There's a slim to no chance they are gonna help you based on your year, and your mileage.

I'm cuirious if yoru car was FI and the previous owner parted out before selling?

So just to confirm, any 03-04 engine will fit an 03 Z? I have a friend who needs to replace his motor and has an 03 Z so I've been looking for one.

Thanks in advance.

Any 2003, 2004, NON-35th 2005, or automatic equiped 2006 Z engine will fit your car.

is it different for infiniti?

That is what my dealership (i have a g35) told me for my warranty. They upheld it too. It's a 2003 and last year i had the trans replaced with 62k on my odometer. Replaced with cd009 without a problem. I dropped the car off and by the endof the next day they had a trans installed and ready for me to pick up. I drove an 08 loaner while i waited (the whole 2 days...lol).

yes, 03-04 is the same exact and will swap in with no changes. Watch out for 04.5 models. Those are slightly different ecu (they moved to a wideband setup for starters).

If he was only changing the engine though, i don't think that would make a difference. I.E. using his old wiring harness throughout. The key component being that it's still a 287hp DE motor.

Yeah, I know. Old thread but I might as well ask here. "Fit" is one thing but work with the ECU is another. I too have an 03 and have access to a low mileage 05 DE for a steal. As I understand it, the 05 will work with my 03 ECU as long as it was not the 35th anniversary OR the track model because both of them have the rev-up. The base, enthusiast and touring DE from 05 should play nice with my 03 ECU. Is this correct?

yes it is the same motor. If you want and can find a rev up, it will also easily work with a cam swap and adding caps to where the extra sensors were.

Thank you! Would you say that 900.00 is a good deal for a long block with 25K miles? The seller says he removed it to install a built engine for his turbo setup.

if you swap to a revup, you will need ecu and harness as well as all 4 cam sensors for the head, followed by a key reprogramming. also the steering rack is different, but i retained my original 03 rack. i did this swap with a built revup.
