Default compression ratio & octane 91

the high compression ratio, the more power u get. Since 350z has high compression ratio, i think, it needs octane 91? Is this why 350z needs premium gas?
What can you do to 350z so that the car can take both low octane and high ocatane without knocking the sensor?

thx

Yes. Compression ratio is a major factor. The number of other factors is extensive: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/autos/gasol...section-1.html

So lowering compression ratio will be ok for the engine to take octane lower than 91?
NOthing else should be changed?

Why would you want to lower efficiency?

Do you think that there is just some **** that you turn to lower compression?

Do some searching and find out how much lower compression pistons cost alone.. That doesn't even include the labor, which if I was a betting man my money would be on that you will have to get someone to do it for you.

Wow, if the Z is taking so much of your paycheck that you are worried about the difference that premium cost, then do yourself and the Z a favor and sell it. You should have never bought a sports car.

Then buy a damn prius.

This has got to be one of the stupidest questions I have ever seen.

I think i read somewhere that the ECU can de-tune itself once you start filling low octane gas on a regular basis. But as said above, it just ruins the point of having a sports car and i hope you don't start a "why does my car feel sluggish" thread when that happens.

well. subaru WRX or STI doesn't have to be filled up with premium gas ALL THE TIME although it's recommended. the engine doesn't just mass up b/c of octane87. And they have turbos and pretty fast.
I don't see Y 350z need premium gas only.

Thats why most people educate themselves and don't ask stupid questions expecting to be spoonfed the answers.

i don't think my question is something that everyone knows. All i could find on internet was b/c of compreesion ratio. And also i saw in an article that compression ratio could be lowered by doing something to the head gasket or w/e

Yes, a thicker head gasket will lower compression. Again, weigh the cost of labor as it is a pain in the a$$ to do.
