I think your question should have been why can sti's run on low octane then since that is more what you are after. I'm sorry to say it but I think you should have got an sti or evo or whatever and you really should have done your homework before you got your z. I am a broke college student who just recently lost my source of income but I would never think of retarding my car to save 5 bucks a fill. I bought this car because I love the long line of z cars and always wanted to be a part of the long legacy of z's. I knew that it was not the fastest or cheapest car to maintain at it's price point but that is not at all what I was going for. It is sad to see that you bought a car and then realized after that it had none of the qualities that you were going after. I really think you should sell your z to someone who loves it for what it is instead of making it something sad.

Again, buy a damn prius you cheap bastard. You also realize by lowering the compression ratio and switching to a lower octane, you're going to lose a lot of horsepower.

^We need more "how do I make my car more slower and fuel efficient?" modders around these boards for a change. Then OP could be the first to do a prius swap on a Z!

might as well put something under the pedal to keep you from revving over 3k... that would keep your mileage high and your speed as slow as it would be from jacking up the compression and using shtty gas

i just came up with a thought that if i lower the compression ratio then i won't have to put premium gas all the time. It was JUST a thought and a desire to learn about engineer..lol

So why did you buy a sports car if you A)Can't afford to put gas in it, and B)Are gonnna spend thousands to rebuild the engine for lower compression, to save a few cents per gallon?

You can get away with mixing premium and regular unleaded here and there, but its advised you use premium. Healthier on your engine
