Default Does anybody know anything about what a spline is in a tranny

I was looking into getting a new clutch and flywheel and I really wanted to get the act six puc clutch unsprung but at the same time I was reading that with the unsprung clutch it decreases spline life. I did a google search for what ever a spline is. But couldn't come up with anything so I wanted to know if I get this clutch and wear out the spline am I able to replace it

its the metal piece coming out of the tranny that the clutch rides on, it has splines all around it..

Redline, i dont think its possible to round out the shaft. Youll break your disc or burn it up before your shaft breaks. I wouldnt worry about it.

This is what I'm worried about I pulled it from act maim site
*6 Puck Unsprung Hub:
*Increased torque capacity
*Faster shifts, reduced inertia
*Very good durability, but shortened spline life
*Absorbs more heat then 4 puck pad
*Harsh engagement, chatter
* Torque Rating:*582 FT LBS

I'm just wondering if or when I do wear it out how much would it be to replace the spline but as it says the whole input shaft

I'm curious as to why you need such a strong clutch?

You do not need a unsprung clutch for what you are doing. The ONLY reason to un a unsrung disk set-up is for SERIOUS drag racing were every .0001 sec counts on your launch.

I would recommend the Southbend DXD Sprung Feramic 6 puck.
Holds TQ well into the 800TQ range, Will last longer than a ceramic puck and also drive better on the street.

I only recommend ceramic on cars that drag race on a constant basis for its immediate lock up. Other than that ceramic is a harsh material that will eat up your flywheel and wallet as it wares very fast.

Feel free to contact me and I can set you up in great set-up.
Here is the 6 puck DXD Feramic kit.
Completely Enclosed sprung hub prevents springs from coming out like many other cheaper kits have a problem with.
