Is it possible to make the auto tranny faster?
When I test drove my used '04 before I bought it, it seemed like the shifts were faster. But now that I've had the auto for a while, the shifts seem slow.
I was thinking about a chip (is there such a thing? suggestions?), but other than that, what can I do?

How many miles? Maybe the transmission is broken and you need a new one.

no, he needs a shaved head. car feels like its shifting slower cause the hair takes up space and causes resistance.

there must be a slight clutch slippage or weakened VB... or probably just dirty AT oil.
Upgrade both Valvebody and the clutch packs with Hi-Performance ones.
here's what i currently have for the clutchpacks:
http://www.altousa.com/friction.htm
these mods will also get your tranny prepped for FI applications.
but yea. use the forum's search feature.

Transgo valvebody kit and flush that j-matic crap out and refill with Amsoil ATF or Redline D4, fluid change makes a huge difference!

??? to what, just curious?
Reason being cause I thought our auto trannies come w/ 3.2 gear ration in the diff. And to go to a lower gear (numerically higher) say a 3.9 you must rebuilt the pumpkin. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

i thought Nissan J-Matic is the only authorize oil to use on the AT tranny. Am I wrong?
