Default Option MAG - Z Tuner Info

just got the latest Option mag for December. Has comparisons of several tuned Zs (Top Secret, Phoenix, Amuse) and some info on some other "kits" (JIC, Jun Auto, PE, Tommy Kaira and Veilside)

here is the list of the power ratings given for each tuner from the mag

Seems like the tuners are starting to crank up

Top Secret: Single Turbo
PS: 460
Max V: 272.3 km/h
0-100mm: 7.18s
0-200mm: 10.54s
0-400mm: 15.57s
0-500mm: 17.72s
0-1000mm: 26.89s
0-V-Max: 106.21s
Max Gs: .646

Phoenix: Single Turbo
PS: 530.5
Max V: 270.48 km/h
0-100mm: 6.77s
0-200mm: 9.96s
0-400mm: 14.64s
0-500mm: 16.60s
0-1000mm: 25.17s
0-V-Max: 63.34s
Max Gs: .693

Esprit: NA 97 dia pistons + Cams +Exhaust
PS: 348
Max V: 244.96 km/h
0-100mm: 6.93s
0-200mm: 10.28s
0-400mm: 15.38s
0-500mm: 17.56s
0-1000mm: 27.03s
0-V-Max: 113.37s
Max Gs: .641

Amuse: ECU + Cams +Exhaust
PS: 309.2
Max V: 254.48 km/h
0-100mm: 7.79s
0-200mm: 11.29s
0-400mm: 16.60s
0-500mm: 18.84s
0-1000mm: 28.32s
0-V-Max: 112.95s
Max Gs: .569

And for the other ones here is the info:

JIC supercharger (looks like ATI): 390ps

Jun Auto: mentions a 3.8 liter stroker kit but no PS rating, does mention that the kit was used in the Option Stream Z that crashed (has a great article on that, max speed on that was 334.69 km/h) which made 800ps

PE Turbo kit: +80ps (don't know at what pressure that's at, note for Japan they have mentioned to dazee 420ps)

Veilside (looks like Stillen SC): +90ps

Tommy Kaira 6 Throttle Plenum + ECU: +35ps, with commentary that the power compared to the stock Z seems to come alive after 5,000 rpms

something does not make sense with those track times - 0-400 meters in mid 15's?

That TK ITB setup is sweet ..have been asking alot about it lately, trying to get pricing, etc. I wonder how much tweaking needed to be done to the ecu tomaek ti all work (ITB's can be, well frustrating to tune well!)

i'm wondering the same thing here. i'll do some more research, but it appears that this was done on a banked oval track. I think they are not representative of a drag strip but are just for relative comparisons among the cars that day

they did not provide pricing on the TK kit and it gives the disclaimer that date of introduction has not been set

Also the mag list some new exhausts, most notable are the Top Secret ti dual tip exhaust 9kg and a claimed 11ps (70 main pipe diameter and 110 diameter tips) and the HKS exhaust which appears to be Ti and a true dual system (60 main pipe diameter (x2) and 110 diameter tips)

it's listed at Yen248,000 so roughly $2,300

it just says HKS exhaust

Holy...it's even worse than Amuse Ti... Any vendors carrying them?
And is the whole piping TI? or just the rear section? Can't really tell by the pic... if the whole piping is the TI.. then $2300 might worth it...

just found it on their website, its not the lega max exhaust, they are calling it "full dual"

as far as the piping it says that the "tail section" is Ti while the "pipe shell" is SUS304 (i'm assuming thats not Ti)

My bad, got some more clarification on this.. the test were meant to look at
high speed capabilities and NOT 0-to whatever times article has a
disclaimer on this.

They commented that on the Esprit, the wing and other
"aero" body kit parts apparently killed its top speed performance. They said it
pulled great all the way up to 6th and then the car seemed to just get
bogged down..

Now if we can pass this type of information to all the ricers out there with the big *** aluminum wings and oversized body kits on their cars...

I'll have to pick this mag up. Looks like the Japanese tuners are starting to fully exploit this wonderful car. It'll just be a matter of time before the US tuners catch up...

Not sure on the prices, but they wouldn't fit U.S. spec Z's.

In the data up there of the cars...

0 400mm is meters right?

That would be 1/4mile times... something is wrong
