Default $150 vq!

With plans to go FI in the future I had nothing to lose when i came across a shop selling a "blown" vq motor. The story i got was the driver hit a curb and broke the oilpan, running it dry. Apparently it was replaced and repaired but the internal damage was done and it wouldnt maintain oil pressure afterward. Wanting to get to know the engine better myself anyway i hauled it home and started tearing it apart. Heres what i found in the oil pan

Everything else is fine, and from my understanding $150 for a top end and everything else (minus alternator) isnt too bad I've already replaced the block. The crank, some wiseco 8.8's, arp L19s, ACL bearings and H beam rods were ordered this morning Ill get the stuff together this summer for a build and swap next winter. This time next year i can haz boost!!

right on, that looks like a good find. looks like someone thought it was pure junk and wanted to sell it cheap for parts to get rid of it!

good little project, especially for such a low dollar amount .. : )

Did it come with heads, or are you looking for heads for $150.

$150 for a VQ is a steal if you got the heads.

Nice. I recently picked up a VQ35 for a max for $100. Just needs timing components.

ya so i've got lots of spare parts now for the mildly modded NA 350z im driving now, and a starting point for my build. Actually all i need now before i get the shortblock built is the replacement thrust washers. Dont thing the ones in the pic are re-usable
