I'm looking into buying a used 2008 Z with anywhere from 5k-20k miles. Do these cars experience a lot of transmission problems? Keep in mind I'm coming from a 09 civic si, which has really opened my eyes to transmission nightmares. I know the VQ is a stout engine. I'm just worried about gearboxs problems such as synchro wear, or anyone breaking their transmission. This especially concerns me when looking to buy a used vehicle.

 

There are so many that Nissan decided to stop putting transmissions in at all. It's a weight saver and the maintenance costs are unbelievably low. Looks like this: Crank-------{CF Driveshaft}-------{Rear diff}.

Seriously dude, there's a search button at the top. press it and type in various phrases. some sample phrases that come to mind would be: 6MT, 6MT problems, manual transmission, manual transmission problems, synchro, stephen hawking, isuckatthesearch. CD009 is a great one too.

 

Yeah, The 07-08 Z's are problem free. I thought I had a problem when I was hearing a whining noise and found out it was just flywheel chatter. So pretty much you are fine. Also, you might get flamed because people tell you to search, but no problems with the 07 and 08 z's. Good luck bud!

Searching for "6MT problems" yields 226 thread. I've searched for answers to transmission issues before and it takes hours and yields lots of out of date information.

Kcee91 was able to come up with a simple, helpful answer "Yeah, The 07-08 Z's are problem free." Not only that, he went a step further with "p.s. the 07-08 Z's are known for their strong clutches and gearboxes so its all good."

I guess no one has told Kevin yet that he isn't supposed to offer any actual information or advice, just a sarcastic suggestion to "search". Can you get banned yet for being helpful?
