What could cause stub shafts to pull out?
#41
bump...ran into the issue where i could not get the tapered axle stub with bull ring installed. after measuring everything, even with the ring fully compressed on the axle stub it was still 34.55 mm. the hole in the diff is only 33mm( WTF). my aha moment was when i realized you are supposed to put the ring in the diff first then put the axle stub in.

Im still very consufed about the circlip... I have a 2004 base open diff, installed a quaife LSD which i got second hand off of someone. There were no retaining clips on either of the stub shafts when i pulled it out of the open diff and when i put it inot the quaife... shoould there have been?

Trying to bring this thread back from the dead.
I have 05 G35 5AT. I am swaping in a 6MT dif with VLSD however the quaife dif i got was for a base model non-vlsd car.
My question is, i did some reading on here and seems like the quaife difs are identical between the vlsd and non-vlsd models the only issue is running into the passanger side stub axle. Does anyone know what needs to be done to have it properly sit without backing out?
How much do you have to cut or machine it?
