Default rev delay?

When the car is in neutral, i press and release the gas pedal fast, just enough to rev up to 2k rpm. But when i release, wouldn't the rpm go down as well? i mean, not right away but still it should go down pretty sharply.
For my car, the RPM goes down really slowly..very slowly. After i release the gas pedal, i feel like it revs one more time by itself. is this normal?
I know my description sucks..lol. I"ll take a vid if needed.

im guessing you have a mt z. I know if i just press the clutch pedal in and then release it in gear or out of gear the rpms jump up a bit and then goes down. Its done that sense i had the cAR aka brand new. So i would say that normal if that is what your asking in this post.

I think every fuel-injected car I've ever owned has had a built-in "delay" or "hold" on the throttle when release quickly. As far as I can tell, it's normal.

Not sure I ever noticed. Are you taking about cold versus warm idle?

That's just what you need...an extra piece of crap in the electronic engine control system that can fail.
