Default Installed oil cooler, now outside ambient air temp reading incorrectly

I just installed my oil cooler (in front of my radiator) and now my outside ambient air temperature is reading about 25 F degrees higher than normal. It's reading about 125F today in traffic.

Where exactly is this temperature sensor located? I know the extra heat taken away from the engine is causing this sensor to go nuts.

Top center of the core support about 6 inches below the hood latch.

hey thanks...that would explain it...because my oil cooler must be sitting right in front of it!

What does it look like if I'm looking for it? I'll see if I can relocate it.

thanks again...

I think there's an air bag sensor in the same location below the hood latch. Be careful around it.

The crash sensor is on the top of the support.

crap! I think I removed the Airbag sensor that Dave is talking about. The sensor with the red arrow is what I relocated..and it didn't do jack for my temp gauge.

I have yet to find the correct ambient sensor. I'll look again..thanks for the diagrams Dave.

This picture is looking down from the top. The sensor that I removed is right below the latch.

The ambient sensor should be down below that one.

See if you can follow in these three attachments. The ambient shows up between the horn on the left and the crash sensor on the right.

hey Dave just an update. I found the sensor, but being that my oil cooler is now in the way..it's virtually impossible for me to access the back of that clip to remove the sensor unless I drop my bumper. I may try to access the sensor from the bottom of the vehicle on my next oil change and pry it loose with a flat head screw driver.

I will also need to solder on some wires to lengthen the wires so that it can reach the alum bumper, placing it in front of the oil cooler.

For now, it'll work like an oil temp sensor

Look at the bright side - at least you know the oil cooler works if the air across it is significantly hotter than the incoming (ambient) temperature.
