Default HR Swap on an 04

Hello Everyone,

I just had a couple of questions. As the title states i am thinking of doing a swap on my 04 DE to an HR. My friend, friends works at a junk yard an they recently got an 07 that was rear ended bad. The front part of the engine is in good shape, including the engine, soooooo.... i am thinking of swapping the engine since i would get it at no cost. Plus trading from my current engine that has 100k to an HR that only has 30K is not bad either. I would just have to pay for someone to install it for me. I was wanting to know how dificult the swap would be and if anyone has done it before that could let me know what to expect. I will be taking the complete engine with tranny, ecu, harness, sway bars. Do i need anything else? i will most likely be buying a new cf hood for the new duel TB. I googled and found 2 results but did not have the information i was seeking. Any info would be great....

Thank you,

Take everything off the donor. radiators hoses etc. everything. GL. One sponsor did it on here and said it was a lot of work. You didn't find much info because its a lot of work for minimal gain. Get it sell it and make some money would be a better idea.

^THIS.

The only engine swap that is logical is an LS swap. That is only logical only because there are kits out there for it. Funny thing is it's harder to swap in an HR motor vs. an LS. Go figure....

everything would have to be changed. im not even sure if the original 04 bcm will work. youd need

motor
trans
all sensors
ecu

essentially the whole front clip as everything up front was changed. most noticeably the radiator.

i believe it was somebody who works for nissan sport, they swapped it into their track car, and he stated it was such a pain in the *** to do.

the amount of time and work required, might as well ls swap or boost it.

Thanks for all the replies guys........ oh boy as much as i dont want to accept it, you guys are all right lol. i was checking out the thread from nissan sport magazine on their swap and i was shocked at how much work it takes! I thought it would be an easy swap since i had everything from the engine bay from the 07. But all the wiring and electrical area is where the problem is. I wish there was some kind of kit im actually going to find out the condition of the wrecked Z to see if it can actually be salvaged,
