Default Unichip needed ?

Hey everyone, just purchased my 1st 350z about 2 weeks ago. Noticed after having the car for about a week; whenever I step on the gas it doesn't pull! I've driven my buddies z with less mods and it pulls a lot harder, so I knew something was up. Noticed the passenger side kick panel was a little off center and had looked like it was tampered with. Sure enough I take it off and find a Unichip system hooked up.

Do I need a unichip for the mods the car has? If not I'd rather have it out and my engine pulling like normal.

Specs:

Full HKS catback exhaust system
Headers (not sure what brand)
Grounding kit (I know its not performance, just thought I'd at it)
AEM cold air intake system

As far as I know, those are the only upgrades it has. Took the car the other day for a smog and passed with flying colors. Is the uchip even necessary for these mods? I'd rather not tamper with the engine/engine management if I don't need to.

Thanks for the input.

one of two things could be happening (maybe more, this is just off the top of my head)

your car may need a tune. if the mods were installed, but never tuned, then the ECU may be pulling timing or power. if your buddies car has less mods, perhaps he has a tune, because a stock z with no mods and an ecu tune makes quite a difference.

i don't know much about this unichip, i've not heard good things from what i can remember, but maybe i'm thinking about some other ebay trinket...

you should look into getting a tune, if my instincts are correct i think you'll find that the previous owner skimped in this area.

A tune is not necessary for the minimal bolt ons that OP has installed. I'm guessing the issue is elsewhere, because even without a tune, the car should not be in limp mode with those mods.

Does his car have the same motor as yours? Big difference between an HR (possibly tuned) and a base DE. Do you have stock cats? definitely want to get rid of those next

Look into Osiris, by Uprev. the rest of the tune is money too, but just syncing the throttle by wire will make a lot of difference off the line
