Should the pedal effort get softer as the clutch wears away? The pedal effort of my clutch is starting to get light (lack of rebound). The clutch doesn't slip but the pedal effort is just really light. So much so that I find myself stomping the pedal to the floor because of the lack of resistance. Is there a problem with my clutch? Could it be a bad throw out bearing or something?

How many miles on your Z? I had 90,000 miles on my '95 E36 M3 when I traded it in on my Z. I still had the original clutch, although it started showing signs of wear during the last 5,000 miles.
If you have less than 50,000 miles on your Z (which seems an absolute certainty, unless you drive 24 hours a day), your clutch should not be wearing unless you seriously abuse it.
I would take it to the dealer on your warranty and complain.
