Quaife lsd install help
hello all,
i just installed my lsd and i was wondering, after the install, how hard will it be to turn the ring gear? I marked everything before uninstalling it and I don't think i made a mistake on what parts go on which side.. i can barely turn the ring gear with wrench. Is that normal? or did I do something wrong? I have a base model and everyone in the forums say that it just drops right in.
Could it be that the bearings be binding somewhere? Maybe a mistake in putting the lsd in?
thanks
chris..

Thanks AngelsVQ,
It actually takes more effort than that video. I'll pull it apart and see if something is in the way like you said. I spoke to AcidJake75 and he said that it should be a bit tight but if it spins both stubs, then you should be okay. I'll double check everything today and re-install it. See if that helps..
Thanks

yep - just did my buddies...big +1 on that Vid AngelsVQ...backlash (and using gear marker is a plus)
Just make sure neither the stubs or the flange is on the ground or else it will super hard to turn.. I hope thats all your doing - should be PnP....but then again - we all run into lil snags here and there.
Im in for results...let us know OP..

So for my lunch hour today, Took apart the lsd. Nothing seems to be blocking the pinion or the ring gear. I put back the lsd and the shims. Tested and it spun freely. I put back the bearing caps that hold the lsd in the pumpkin. Without torquing em down i spun the output shafts and the lsd spun freely.
I then torqued them down to service manual specs and i find that they are hard to turn once again. So now I guess its due to the new bearing I just put on. Thus I'll just install the lsd later tonight and see what happens. I checked the backlash and the contact seems fine so i would assume that i installed it correctly.
Thanks again everyone for your help. I'll let you know tomorrow how it turns out.
