show me a 996 (non-turo) that does a 4.5??

Jim/Richard:

It sounds like you got the premier NA Z at this point unless I am missing something? I think others might be heading your way if FI options dont meet expectations of the hype.

Default I'll take that challenge

NEcurve -

If you are ever in SoCal, send me a PM here and we can take the cars out someplace and try it. Is your NA 996 stock, or have you modified it? I'm talking about my modded Z and a stock 911 2wd.

I'll be a witness just tell me where and when.

How about this, bring that 911 to willow springs on March 5th. We can run them in a straightaway and on a track. We will have at least 25+ witnesses.

you might have a good shot against that 996. But 0-60 in 4.5? Thats plain crazy. That was the best time I pulled on my g timer with a sc and 365 rwhp. I'm sure your car pulls hard, but I think you need to go to the track and get an idea first. Go race a stock svt cobra, they pull 4.7, you got him easy

No doubt you got him in the hp category if you pulled 365rwhp. I am assuming you got an ATI SC?

The only issue that might (notice I said might) give Jim some chance is your hp is mostly towards the higher rpm levels and maybe an NA motor will have some advantages in the lower rpm ranges? Again, on paper , the 365hp looks like it would win easily.

You are right in that 1/4 mile and dyno results would answer a lot of questions and either prove or disprove Jim's/Richard's claims.

Jim, I hope you get your dyno done soon. You must have a significant hp gain since your 305rwhp pull at Mossy. You did not make these claims of power until you added the TS ECU so it will be interesting to see if you can pull a lot of hp. What is your guess on RWHP, 315, 320, or more hp? I guess i am wondering what your butt dyno thinks the ECU upgrade added? Of course if you want to pm me that info, it might be a good idea and then you can post the dyno results later for all to see. I dont want you to get flamed for being excited about your car. I asked for a butt dyno so I know it is a guess of added hp not verified by dyno for now.

Del350, BTW, do you live in southern ca? We would love to have you at willow springs on March 5th to track your Z.

Default Play nice, SoCalKid86

no law says i gotta post my dyno charts or 1/4 mile times here, once i have them in hand.

i've taken a lot of crap from the membership here. i have a dyno chart i posted BEFORE the Crawford Plenum, RT Hi-Flow Cats, and TechnoSquare ECU Flash were installed, at 301 rwhp, from a Mustang Dyno that was run at Mossy Nissan in Oceanside.

in your humble view, is that a "reputable" dyno?

Who cares if he is putting out 290 rwhp or 390rwhp? He is excited and happy with the pull of his new mod!

I also would like to see what 996 NA Porsche does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds besides the $100,000 GT3 which does 0-60 in the low 4's. Every 996 carrera test that I've seen from the 2002 model and up runs 0-60 in the high 4's to around 5 flat and as you know they increased displacement and horsepower in the flat 6 starting in 2002.

Default GT3

I have no idea how fast a GT3 is, but I saw one stading still and talked to the owner about it. There was a Speed Yellow GT3 parked in front of a cigar store that I frequent. The owner saw me eyeing his car, and we got to talking. GT3 has an awsome presence. Different Porsche factory wing than I have seen on any 911, and the interior is beautiful, with body color accents inside.

The GT3 owner was as interested in my 350Z and all the mods I have done, as I was interested in his car. He had owned a 240Z way back when.

No, we did not race, and yes, if we had, he would have beat me soundly. He said the GT3 has 385 crank hp. I think I am pushing that number now in my N/A Z.

Jim,

Don't get discouraged by the negative commentary. There are many amongst us who are patiently anticipating the results of your dyno, because we are curious to see how fast a NA Z can really go. We don't question your integrity or how your car compares to Porsches..

Default That sounds reasonable.

OK, maybe I was exaggerating when I said I could do zero to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. But 5 flat should not be a problem. Are 911s better sports cars than 350Zs ? Of course they are. But they cost over twice as much (maybe even 3 times as much). Sinking $8,000 into a Z gets you one heck of a fast car. That's all I have been trying to say. Hyperbole gets you there that much faster. LOL

Jim Jones-

Ppl start flaming when assumptions are made. If you would like to show us your list of mods and their respective dynos, im pretty sure everyone would be in debt to you one way or another. This is a forum where info is shared. You dont have to respond to ppl that dont give you the respect you feel you deserve. Present your data accurately and let others judge for themselves. Thanx for posting your experience with all of us.

Hey Mr. Jones,

Your info is very valuable to the Z community.
Appreciate it lots!
I could not catch your Z on the 405. Believe me I tried!
