4.083 + welded diff?
So i keep getting mixed answers from ppl about weldeds in 350z's etc.. I come from the schassis where welded is everything etc. I know a welder who has done my diffs+everyone else in the area forever never breaking any. How bad would a 4.083 combo plus welded be on the diff. is that just asking to break it. This would be for daily plus occasional drift event every few months. I am used to diff chatter etc i dont care about how it drives i just dont wanna have to replace diffs every event thats expensive and stupid. I would like to have some imput from welded guys in this thread. thanks.

I agree with AngelsVQ that it depends on the quality of weld but I never heard of a lasting successful weld story.

Before I bought my LSD, I was checking the market place. You might get away with buying a whole pumpkin at a good price. If not then I recommend the Nismo2-way. You're fine with your choice of 4.083 FD

yea, i mean for 240's its always a no brainer 100 bucks vs 1k and it does the same and will never break ever.. but i really dont wanna have a diff break on me if im NA thats crazy talk. I see 350's snapping diffs and axles when turbo and drifting but not w/ under 300.. I trust my welder so .. maybe its worth the try and if it fails its not a huge loss of money then go the lsd route if i can find a deal like ur talking about.. under 500 or so.

I welded mine and ran it for 8-9 months with no problems at all. I put a VLSD in after that because the welded diff ate my BRAND NEW tires bald in 8 months. Now if you don't mind replacing tires and the chatter noise than it's safe.
Oh, and you won't need the 4.08 gears after you weld the diff.
There was one thing I did notice though. When parking in tight spots the inside axle would pre-load a lot. (probably normal with the welded).
