Default eBAY TURBO?!?!

Hey guys,

I'm rebuilding my '03 engine, and was thinkin about buyin an ebay turbo just for ***** & gigs.

Has anyone tried putting an ebay turbo on their z? If so, any good?

Please refrain from telling me to "not waste my money and buy a real kit" etc. I just wanna know if anyone has tried, and what they got.

Thanks.

I do not think anybody here has tried an ebay turbo. If they have, they would not admit it. You can be the first one, and provide some feedback.

while people may not have tried them on there z ive seen plenty of them on 3rd gen camaros. ive yet to see anyone get a reliable one everyone ive seen has had problems somewhere along the road that a name brand turbo dosnt have at the same milage. i never used em personally my camaro was nitrous fed. now several people over on thirdgen .org have had lots of success buying used holset turbos but that platform is kind of a budget platform anyway.

main reason people try them over there is becuase they get ebay turbos for 200 bucks and a new engine for 150 at a junkyard. at those prices they can have fun for cheap it just requires alot of diy

id get a real deal kit, be worth it. i have the turbonetics 60 series kit, 5psi, 420hp, it is pretty sick when the track control is off, and you dont have to have built to have a little fun also.

just think how good that ebay kit could be when ur paying that cheap price for a full kit with turbo that u should be paying for just a good quality turbo alone...not a good choice anyway it is looked at...if anything just get a crappy turbonetics kit, it would still be better and they are dirt cheap

Ask the Honda kids, they can tell you how reliable they are.

buddy of mine is a dsm guy, and has gotten cars with ebay turbos on them. apparently the problem (the whole turbo lol) the bearing tolerances are either to small or too large, and they get shaft play incredibly easy. ***** and giggles are for hondas, and with a name like blownbearing99 i wouldnt press your luck
