Next Best Performance Mod
What do you guys think is the next best performance mod to do? I've already installed the JWT Intake, and Berk Test Pipes. I did the install myself on both of these. As far as the work goes, they are pretty easy DIY mods. Don't want to do a full exhaust (test pipes are good enough for me), and don't want to do a turbo or supercharger (don't have the ability to install those anyway). What would be something else good to do? Thanks.

Just for that reply I'll tell you.
Typical NA progression for a Z would be to do plenum spacer (depending on MO), exhaust, then a tune (Look into Osiris).
But you didn't even tell us what kind of car you drive? And before you say "it's a Z forum" you wouldn't believe the newb shet that get's posted here.

faster shifting - dump the stock dual mass flywheel and go with a lightweight one (nismo is about 6 - 8 lbs less than stock). however if you that route - prepare for flywheel chatter (i never found a way around it). and a simply DIY is also a short shifter.
if you consider handling performance - i highly recommend coil overs and front and rear sway bar kit. and if you plan on going fast - an aggressive wheel and tire setup with spacers. you'll notice a huge difference when cornering.
even if you decide to go FI - i do believe, without doing a complete build of the engine (cams, rods, pistons, fuel injectors, etc) you're stock motor would only be able to handle about 350whp or so. and it's far from cheap and easy to DIY to obtain that power N/A.
if you got time and money - trade the DE in for an HR that'll give a boost in power if you want to stay N/A - its what i did and i've gone intake, headers, high flow cats, nismo exhaust and Osiris tune and i'm pushing 294whp and 254twp
good luck and remember - speed/power cost money.

agreed if you have a 2003 - 2006 VQ35DE... but it all depends on what you consider performance as well. if you're looking for N/A DIY mods - if power is what you're looking for you're going to be disappointed. even with full breathing mods (i.e. intake, headers, test pipes, exhaust) you'll probably gain approx 15 - 20whp tops.

Light wheels with sticky tires work great , a proper LSD is also a great NA mod.

Thanks guys. A lot of good points. I agree that the NA mods seems pretty useless as far as performance goes. I am very happy with the sound of my Z now w/ the intake and the test pipes so it was worth the few hundred it cost me. I think I've pretty much exhausted everything I want to do to my z. Already have rims, body kit, every small body mod possible (including rear wiper removal), etc. I think suspension is all that is next for me. Thanks!
