some simple questions
I was told a good while ago that autos do better with tt systems(vs manuals), is that true? Another thing, does anybody know the 0-60 &/or 1/4 mile times for the auto z?? Finally, have any of you gotten the vortec sc system for your car, or any type of forced induction? I would love to hear opinions on which is best, since I'm planning on getting a forced induction mod myself.
The reason for why auto is used in high horse power street cars ie supra, is the auto does not allow for the blow off of boost when the vehical changes gears. Five speeds loose the boost when shifting since you have to lift the throttle. And a friend of mine auto z runs very low nine sec stock in the 1/8th.
two things to keep in mind:
1. a 6MT is almost always better on the road course.
2. the 5AT in the Z is well known to not handle extra power well. Level10 offers an upgrade, but it's not really proven yet. There are several people with the ATI blower and a 5AT, and many are unhappy, and say it won't shift at WOT unless you're in the pseudo-manual shift mode.
The Supra AT is much stronger than the one found on the Z, and even Supra owners get their transmissions modified.. BoostLogic is the common go-to shop to get an upgraded Supra AT. I know the owner.
