HELP! Having Problems..
Alright, well yesterday getting off the highway I started getting a VERY strong vibration from my stick. Way WAY worse then the usual vibration. It worsens as I slow down, and goes away when I am completely stopped. Even at 3 mph, it is VERY strong. It does it while the engine is off and I am coasting, does it whether in gear or in nuetral. After driving with the windows up, I noticed a sound that almost sounds like a chirping bird coming from the gear box. I have no idea whats going on. Please help.
Is the noise and vibration the same in all gears?
Can you relate the frequency of the vibration to the wheel speed (very low frequency) or the drive shaft (about 3-4 times higher than the wheels)? If the frequency is even higher, it could be something inside the transmission.
A video with sound would really help.
What year and how many miles?

The frequency does not seem to be related to wheel speed, its about the frequency of those vibrating back massagers? or a vibrating tooth brush. It doesn't seem to fluctuate too much. Also it doesn't do it until after the car has been warmed up. I guess I'll set up an appointment at the tranny shop

Yeah its the weirdest thing. No fluctuation. I thought maybe a tire alignment issue? But that doesn't explain the noise from the gear box, or why it doesn't do it when it's cold. I took of the top of the gear box to look down into the tranny, couldn't see much but def has a weird burning smell, like the smell you get on a new clutch or if you ride the clutch too hard. I don't think it's a clutch problem though. Things aren't sounding too good.

Wow, this is an interesting issue... Does clutch engagement/disengagement change it at all?
I'm interested to know what you find out. Hopefully it's nothing crazy and your wallet doesn't take too much of a hit : /
Good luck!

That's partly why people get cranky when your thread has a generic name. If we find out and solve your issue in this thread, the knowledge will be more difficult to dig up in the future due to the poor title.
I hope your car gets fixed without too much hassle.
2003 Base Model. 147k miles. Have had no major issues with it in the last 60-70k miles. I'm not sure if the tranny has been replaced or rebuilt as I'm not the first owner. I had a new clutch installed about 1500 miles ago. Not sure how good of a job they did as some stuff was done carelessly (took my hood off and put in back on crooked, missing screws and cotton stuff under the leather in the gearbox, and right after they fixed it, I could shift into reverse without pushing in on the stick. Had to take it down, they said nothing was wrong with it and that I did need to push in, and after I got it back I did. They tried to tell me it was working right the whole time, but its some siht bc they left my aux cable caught in the dash where you take the part off to get the gearbox, bunch of idiots, sorry about that tangent.) But anyways it doesnt seem to really be a clutch issue, but there's always that possibility of it being fairly new and maybe not having the greatest service done on it.
thank you that helps a lot in figuring out whats wrong, have u personally done a visual check of the undercarriage of the car? the whole thing about shifting into reverse withouth pushing down is very worrying lol , and why the *** would they take your hood off, best way to figure out whats wrong is to visually check underneath the car, check if all bolts that have anything to do with the trans are tight , check the mounts, driveshaft bolts, fluid in the transmission (remove top filler bolt and see if anything comes out also check with your finger to see where the fluid is , just dont get your finger stuck, i had a small panic attack when i checked mine but i got it out safely haha). but the fact that the vibration stays the same is weird i wish i could see it in person, because every part in the transmission moves faster as the car moves faster nothings stays constant.

sounds good , keep us posted. lol im not kidding i used my pinky and youre supposed to put it in and then bend it downwards to feel the level (your finger is the dipstick haha) but then taking your finger out is the scary part lol could u imagine the trouble one would go through if they got their finger completely stuck? *** that!
Vivid - Yeah no kidding. If it's something they messed up I'm gonna have to fight with them to pay for costs, cuz no way will that be coming out of my pocket. Let's hope it doesn't come to that though.
Redline- I'll just be sure to lube up the hole real well before insertion. Works in all scenarios right? haha
