Would this part come off during clutch replacement?
I know the tranny has to be taken out to do the clutch, and from what I understand this is a transmission component. I'm wondering if this part would or could have been taken out or off during the replacement of my clutch.
It is the boot-control rod. Part #32859NA

To save some time searching, its the square piece farthest to the top of the diagram.

ok, I'm just asking because I had a mechanic do mine, and not to long after it was done this part had came loose and now rubs on the driveshaft, making a squealing sound, heavy stick vibration, and a burning rubber smell. I'm just trying to figure out if it could be the mechanics fault, or if it will need to be repaired on my own dollar. I don't want to blame anyone before I have a better idea.
i cant remember for the life of me how it connects, but your shifter goes into it, i want to say its held up by something but cannot remember what. Maybe someone who does remember can chime in, but i wouldnt think it did not hold onto the bottom part of the shifter

Yeah theres a groove in the metal piece under the shifter, and this rubber piece has a lip on it that connects to this rubber piece. I'm wondering if it wasn't put on right and fell down
imo chances are there's no problem, just gotta get it lifted and pop it back on. I actually forget exactly how it attaches as well and I just did my clutch and flywheel 4 months ago >.< I'd say take it back and have them check it out; can't hurt.
According to the service manual, that boot is removed during removal of the transmission. It covers the bolt that connects the lower end of the shift lever to the control rod.
I suspect the boot has been ruined from rubbing on the driveshaft. It might be necessary to drop the driveshaft to install the replacement boot. The top of the boot fits into a groove on the bottom of the control lever housing.

It's in the section MT (Manual Transmission) under Transmission Assembly removal and installation. It's on page MT-18 of the '07SM. It may be different for your year.
I don't know how to link to a particular page in a pdf. document.
