Default Does my car have a chip/reflash??

Hey guys,
Newbie here..
So after lots of searchine, I just picked up my First Z!
The first owner must have loved this thing!
From what I can tell it is a Touring Package that Had the Track Brembos and Rims added.
It also has DC Sports Headers, Nismo Cat Back (Possibly High Flow Cats), and a JWT Pop Charger.
So I'm wondering, if he did all that to it, he probabaly did something with the computer to, right?
And if he didnt', should he have?

Is there a way to tell if he did some sort of "reflash", or added a chip, etc.

I'm New to Z cars, so I don't know what most people would do to them as far as ECU changes.
I'm very happy with the performance, so I'm not looking to upgrade (yet) but I'm curious what is done to it, and want to make sure it was modded right.

Thanks in advance for any info!

if the owner spent that much money on modding then, yes he probably did but it not something you can tell off the bat.

Difficult to tell but:

1. Look for a piggyback attached to the ECU
2. Play with cruise control. The ECU may have "maps" selectable with cruise control
3. OEM redline for your motor? Your actual redline?

Don't the Z's have a neutral fuel cut? I don't make a habit of revving mine in neutral, so I couldn't tell you.

if he was modding it correctly it should be tuned you would really have to ask who sold you the car

or if the owner was smart he might of returned it to stock sense the new owner might add more mods or return it to stock.

hey guys,
thanks for the posts..
I'll try the rev trick tommorow..
unfortunately, I can't ask the previous owner.. I bought it from the second owner, and he didn't know for sure.

Where is the ECU on these? I can take a look for a piggy back chip, or any signs of tampering..

What sequence would I do with the cruise buttons to see a change?

If you were to 'hold down' the middle cruise button (which is the on/off switch I believe) then press down on the top cruise button (accel/decel), when you release the middle button, it will blink however many times you pressed town on the top button. Did that make any sense? lolol That's how the Osiris UpRev flash switches maps.

I was lucky enough to grab a COBB AccessPORT before they discontinued it for the 350Z Has a few map configurations, including holding on to the stock map.

+2 on checking the rev limiter. If it redlines about the OEM gauge, it's more than likely got a tune. Mine relines at 7500rpm now...

Call an UpRev tuner and give him the VIN#. If it has an UpRev tune the license follows the vehicle based on VIN.

i also tried the cruise control buttons, nothing seemed to happen.

Thanks for all the help, only thing left is to check at the ECU.

My other questions would be:
With a JWT Popcharger, headers, and cat back exhausts....SHOULD I have some tuning done to it? I'm happy with current performance, but am I doing any damage by increasing airflow, and not retuning? or is the stock ecu smart enough to compensate?
