Gearbox rebuild with PAR 3rd and 4th
Hi Guys,
I've managed to destroy 3rd gear and after a teardown inspection of my trans I have decided to buy a brand new CD009 and add the PAR gears for 3rd and 4th (like BriGuyMax). Looking at the service manual it says that the synchronizer hubs and half the actual gears "are not resuable. Never reuse them"
Does anyone know if this is bullsh!t or what? Is it because they don't secure correctly once pressed off the shaft? If its a brand new transmission I can't see any other reason why, but hey I know jack about transmissions.
Matt

Yes it's bullsh!t. As long as they are in good shape there is no reason not to reuse those parts.
Can you post or email me some pictures of the broken 3rd gear?
I'm the guy who worked with PAR get the gears made and I built BriGuyMax's trans.
Also FYI, the exact gears that briguymax got will not drop in to a CD009 trans. They are CD008 parts (the synchros are different between different revisions of the trans). But PAR told me that they have CD009 compatible gears as well. You may want to confirm with them.
