Tranny shop just called, help?
Getting my clutch, flywheel, stainless steel line, roller bearing and realese bearing replaced, bought everything off on of the vendors on here (JWT parts) exept i got the release bearing from the local nissan dealer, tranny shop called me saying that the relaese bearing is too big and that i need to replace the internal slave cylinder along with the car, and get the slave cylinder that comes with the kit. what the heck are they talking about? i new something was gonna go wrong, first time any single one of cars is being worked on by someone other than myselft. help

Dang, it seems like the people selling the clutch parts would make it clear that you needed to get their special CSC because the OEM was too big to work.
However, in the overall scheme of things, this is a minor bump in the road.

Best bet is to get our HD slave kit for the JWT clutch.
You can use the stock slave but at least get a new OEM with the feedpipe and hope for the best.
The stock slave and the JWT clutch do not match up very well. The slave bearing is almost the same size as the hole in the pressure plate spring and can actually go through the fingers and blow out. Even if it doesnt go through the fingers it's just a matter of time before the new one blows out because it cannot handle the pressure.

I found that nissan gave my father the wrong part, they gave him the bearing for the 03-04, so i went to nissan and got the right one for the HR... they luckily had one in there return bin. Everything went great, for the first 40 miles, and then the oem slave gave out... fml, would have definitely ordered a heavy duty but my car was sitting up on the hoist apart already. Will be ordering an aftermarket hd slave sometime soon.

Here read this thread:

this is one reason why the slaves were blowing out because the bearing would go through the fingers when using the stock slave with the DE style plates. ....

Many MANY people have ruined their slaves with the JWT kit.
It walks off the side of the pressure plate fingers.
With just the Zspeed sleeve and stock slave there have been ZERO failures to date.
These are cars that had 4-5 slaves go within months with the JWT kits.
With the Southbend kit and my adaptor we have now logged about 25,000 miles total between 4 cars with no failures. On person went through 5 slaves with his JWT in 6,000 miles and has now had my sleeve and southbend clutch for over 12,000 miles.
If the new slave works out it will be much better as far as durability than the stock unit

This may change... I have a ZSpeed CSC, MC, and Stage 1 TZR Clutch... Obviously because I had already experienced stock CSC failures... Something just blew and my clutch died in the middle lane in Tampa on my girlfriends birthday while trying to take her somewhere and surprise her... This also happened at 4:00pm at the beginning of rush hour... I'll keep you guys updated as I do not know what part failed and I do not want to cause any problems with Joe @ ZSpeed as he has always been very helpful... Things happen, but the whole reason I got these items is because I was trying to fix this flaw... I'm pretty frustrated right now (thousands of dollars; $800 stock replacement, then ZSpeed parts and labor, and now again after all of that) and will patiently wait for my shop to tell me what went wrong... Peace!

we bled the clutch a couple times to make sure all air was removed and it was functioning properly, the clutch i got (SB TZR) is a higher-short release quick clutch with a firm grip and slightly heavy feel... the initial installation was fine but we adjusted it after because i felt like the release should have been lower in the pedal, so we did that, but when we re-bled it again a little later i believe, we adjusted it back up per Joe's recommendations... The clutch is fantastic making shifts outside of 1st and Reverse, but I never liked the high release point, i was just interested in the short release... the high release point seemed to be an object of debate with some of the guys in the shop as typically the release is off the floor.. i have to agree its odd but thats how the clutch is designed apparently so the shifting is immediate...
my shop is ZFever in Tampa and they have done some amazing things and have a good crew... Doug is the owner there and should be getting back to me soon with the details..
Im honestly very disappointed with what happened, and I just want it to be handled... i spent a lot of money in both parts and labor... mainly it is irritating and frustrating as i have a nice car and didnt want to have a project or old beater that im constantly having to mess with... that was part of the point in owning this car, with the supposedly better engine over the DE, AND the whole point of modding my entire clutch system...

OK cool, please keep us updated.I have the SB Stage 2 clutch, with all the upgraded parts.Your right about first and reverse, not really a big issue though. If you have 13k on it I guess we can eliminate install and bleeding, you would have had issues before.
I kept the pedal factory,no adjustment. My clutch has the same characteristics as yours, quick shifts, finicky 1st and R,high release point. But I actually like it like that and saw no need to adjust, especially reading some of the pedal adjustment nightmares in a few threads.
And yes, every other manual I drove has a low release point, just took a short adjustment with the Z.
I can understand the frustration, I dropped well over 2K into my transmission as well.Good luck on the diagnosis.

Fever called me back... No tell tale signs of abuse, wear and tear, bad installation issues, clutch plate/ finger issues... Seal and everything looks fine, almost new, but the seal is bad and leaking.. I called Joe and gave him Doug's number at Fever, and thats where I'm at...
