I installed an eBay short shift kit in my 03 350z a while back. It works, but it tends to be 'notchy' or 'sticky' Definitely like the short throw shifts, but its not as smooth as the factory shifter. Anyone else have this problem or know of a fix aside from replacement?

 

i got a simple solution.

remove center console
unbolt 4 10mm bolts
remove ebay shifter

blow up.



or sell your z and buy a del sol or something gay of that nature.

in all honesty, you bought an ebay shifter, what did you expect? oem feel and build?

 

i have a 200+ dollar TWM short shifter.. feels like shiz.

OEM or bust.

It also requires adjsutment btw, search shifter alignment procedure.
Our transmissions are already notchy due to synchros.
Short shifters ( ALL OF THEM) make this worse.
I feel it ruins the feel of the car.
I am going to remove mine.

BBS had the best idea so far. Get rid of it. They were cool to have in the 300zx.. they are NOT cool to have in our cars. With a high clutch engagement point, theres no way your shifter si whats slowing your gear changes anyways. and btw, they are only .25 in lower that stock.. its only the throw thats shorter.

OEM or bust. If you want to shift quicker learn to drive it.
