Default Switching from Auto to Manual

I'm wanting to switch my 03 350z to a manual transmission. Any tips? is it even worth the effort? I'm planning on doing all the work myself (with buddies of course.)

I think you would be better off trading the car for one with a manual transmission. That would probably be much cheaper even if you are doing the work yourself.

Opening up a can of worms, dude.
You got a 03...the costs, everything involved does not make sense.
Sell your car,buy a MT if thats what you really got to have.

Unless your car is already heavily modified, it makes more sense to trade the car in for a manual model.

You will need a transmission and a clutch and a clutch peddle. Good luck.

You're opening a can a worms. I did it years ago, amazing what you learn. Most of it is swapping parts, the hard part is learning what parts. To make it look like a factory install is the killer. Take a look at a factory part diagram and you'll see what I mean. The stupid parts will kill you, doesn't matter if you buy them or search for them.

As other have said, trade it. No matter how great or bad your car is, you'll save money in the end. Only reason I did it was there was only 500 of my model made. I couldn't find what I wanted. You've got a Z, there thousands out there.

So just to be clear...

It can and has been done.

Those that have done it do NOT recommend doing it.

It is NOT cost effective.

General concensus is you should have purchased the car with a man pedal to begin with

Thanks everyone. I've thought about just trading it in, but changing from auto to manual is one of the few things I haven't ever done, was just wondering if it'd be worth it. And I agree on the 'Man Pedal' comment. I would have bought it like that, if I didn't just get it off my sister lol.
