Utec software help
I have been fighting this all day and haven't gotten anywhere...
I got the software (main compressed file package, intake and exhaust paramaters and map) off of turboxs site. But it downloads in some weird formats (.8D, .XLS, .MOT) and I can't seem to find out whats wrong.
I was under the assumption that this was supposed to be easier than this. If anyone out there can send me the correct, windows compatible software, or help me with the junk I've got I'd really appreciate it.
Please help

You're over your head.
Read the utec user manual............again if you already did but i doubt it.
There is no turboxs provided interface sotware.
You use a windows utility called hyperterminal to connect to the utec. Its old school.
Xcel files are used for the maps.

Yeah, I read it. And per your attitude injected reply I looked again and saw that my problem lies in my connection to Hyperlink. I believe I need a serial to USB connection, as my laptop doesn't have a 9 pin serial port.
I'm not "in over my head". Just because you have to pay some overpriced mechanic to do all of your work doesn't mean I do. Please check your attitude at the door next time. thanks.
Also, thanks for the raging angy comments your about to say. I will say no more. Thanks for the advice on double checking the manual.

Even better. Please check my build thread and let me know where you see me paying a mechanic to build my car.
You do not need a usb to serial cable. USB cable will work. Got a usb printer in your house? that is the cable you need. Install the drivers and connect to the utec that way.
Set up hyperterminal. Once you connect, press enter one more time to bring up the menu.
GL!
