Yes it has been discussed but there should be some new info on it. Im taking my Z in on MOnday for ss brakelines and new pads. I am wondering if I should have them advance timing.
Questions...
1. Fly By Z I see from your sig you have done this. What differnce have you noticed? ( Or anyone else who has done this)
2. All you experts out there.... What is your opinion on doing this? Why would it improve performance and are there any hazards???
Feel free to chime in anyone if you have something worthy to add!

No expert here. But, I did have my timing advanced 2 degrees when I increased my idle to 813 to avoid stalls after JWT flywheel installation.
I really didn't notice much difference but, the flywheel changed the drive characteristic of the car so much that I may have missed the difference.
Whatever the case, I doubt there is more than a couple hp gained, and that's something you shouldn't be able to feel.

My initial feeling was better throttle response. Honestly, I can't remember what the car was like stock. I had it done at around 1K and I have 7K now. I have had the car almost a year. When I get the STune on Jan2 I am having the timing set back to 0 advance and I will see if it feels slower. If it does then I will bump it back. Last time I was in SA the tech said that he thought he put it at 3 or 4. I wonder if this slows me down. We will find out in Jan. I guess. Also, for whatever mod I might do, I don't think I want advanced timing anymore what with the knock sensor and lean problems. Probably not worth it. Also, I ran a 13.8 in the 1/4 which I am not completely happy with with my car in the form it is now. I want to see if my advanced timing is the problem. More to come on the NA timing issue.
