how do i know if i have the v2?
Look for the part number on the engine for casting but regardless your car still burns oil and you will need to keep an eye on it. All rev-up motors burn oil and even if you are on your 3rd engine. The issue is piston rings and possible valve guide seals.

One method to get some indication of the oil consumption state is to check the inside of the exhaust tips for thick carbon or oil black substances. It isn't a guaranteed check, but if there IS buildup, then the chances are much higher.

My '03 was a lemon law buyback. It said so right on the title. All it meant to me was that I got it for $5k less and had zero issues with it. After Nissan completed the buyback, all of the issues (the common little '03 issues) were corrected with updated '05 parts.
