Default Should I Buy This Stock LSD?

Wondering if you guys think i should get this.. its a used stock lsd differential. it only has 15,000 miles on it. I have an 03 base.. this is for an 04 but from what i understand they are interchangeable? what else would i need to buy to install this or would it bolt right up? i know a lot of you dont recommend this cause its "not worth the time or money" but id rather do this than pay over a grand for a nice one. So what do you think?

You answered your own question..

Few hundred more could get you a "real" LSD. Just save up more if you really need the upgrade.

VLSD only has 30% lock when in perfect condition. It will not meet your needs, and if it does , it will wear out really freaking fast when used for anything but getting groceries.

well after reading these last few posts... keep the open diff, and sell your 350z. last thing we need is another newb hitting a pole or getting clocked at 130 and and trying to buy a faster car for a cheaper insurance premium.

not necessarily, but dont tell me you havent had one moment where you burnt a little rubber at one point in your z.. or in any vehicle ever owned. im not talking about going crazy.. just having the ability to do something. if i wanted to drive like an idiot id hop on the r6 and cruise at 175.

Keep dreaming, your R6 will not go 175

Indicated vs reality

my speedometer read 184 at one point, yes i do realize sport bike speedometers are often off 5 to 10 mph at those speeds but considering i had a performance camshaft installed, FULL exhaust system, intake, power commander 5 with a custom dyno'd map, and new throttle system.. dont tell me what MY bike is capable of because you have no idea about MY bike. but good assumption

OP.... have you heard of being a "Dugan"?

If you can rock the R6 at close to 200mph then the Z sould be childs play. Don't let these haters get you down. Drifting corners is the shizz. Save for the LS swap too and do this right.

You aren't old enough to be in college yet and you own both a 350z and an r6?

sorry, your speedo is playing some wicked games with your mind. Minus the cams, what you mentioned are BASIC n/a mods for a bike and would in no way allow your bike to reach speeds of 184mph. Seriously, the bike's ACTUAL speed, regardless of what the speedo says, is around 160mph - that's where most 600s top out at. And the ACTUAL speed of a 1000cc sportbike is around 175-180 (not including the bmw s1000rr b/c that bike was built by God, seriously). 1000cc's usually see indicated speeds in the upper 190mph range.

NO WAY your r6 is hitting that speed in actuality. "Performance" cams are HARDLY going to give you any gains too. I'm curious, what whp did your bike make? And what year is your r6?

Well with factory gearing 6th gear off the limiter you bike is good for roughtly 162mph, to go any faster you would need to go up on the countershaft gearing or down in gearing on the rear. My bets are you bike is actually geared the opposite.

BTW i used to race an R6 with every Yamaha Kit race part installed on it.
