Clutch Questions
Hi Everyone...
I have a few questions that I am hoping to get some help on.
1. I am getting some noise in my clutch, and have been told by the dealer that is is the throw out bearing. So time for a new clutch... I noticed on Nismo's site, that their disk has no springs. Yet I notice on alot of pics here on this site that most have springs. Is there springs in the 2005 clutch disk, or are the inclusion of disk springs based on the manufacturer of the disk?
2. Is there any benefit with going to a springed disk?
3. And finally... any recommendations of what company to use for a new clutch kit. Possibly including a light weight flywheel. Actually anyone know the wieght of the stock flywheel compared to aftermarket units?
My car has stillen headers, Nismo full exhaust, Nismo cold air intake, light weight pulleys, and soon a programable ECU. Going to have questions of what is the best ECU also..later on. Thinking about a twin turbo too! :-)
Thank you in advance.
Sincerel,
Keith

Above: You will commonly see these springs on a street clutch. They help to isolate the transmission from the shock of the clutch engaging.
Above: For competition racing (drag racing for example) the springs may be eliminated. Here the purpose of the pressure plate is to clamp and hold - comfort is secondary.

^^This. Edit: What David had posted.
Additionally, we currently are running a package deal on the Competition Clutch stage 2 clutch and flywheel along with our FP clutch line and Motul fluid. This setup will be plenty for what you are running and has a very close to OEM feel. - http://www.forgedperformance.com/sto...cat=269&page=1
Feel free to give the shop a call about the various clutch and flywheel options for your car or if you'd like to talk about that TT setup
