Default Rear end ratings?

I've been searching through the forums and google, and I cant seem to find the answer I am looking for. What is the rear end out of 2008 350z rated for? I've heard that the tranny and rear end can handle up to 800, but that doesn't sound accurate.

I am looking into forced induction soon, and I was wondering what would eventually need to upgraded to withstand 650-700 hp to the tires.

if you have a 08 you wont have any issues out of either. the cd009 trans and the rear end in the z have both had 1200 put through them iirc, and thats at the wheels i know sound performance for sure is doing over 1k at the wheels as are a few others. you will want a upgraded lsd though, and be prepared to spend some money. ive got about 20k in parts right now and still need my fuel pumps, wheels and tires, and a gasket kit and the machine work which is about 3500 for the above. thats with me doing all the work myself outside the bore/hone and balance. thats for 700-800 at the wheels a few things you can do cheaper such as fuel system but its not gona be much cheaper still expect about 20k is you do the labor yourself.

this is stuff that has been covered on the forums before.

i do need them but im not worrying about it currently. im not going to really be pushing the car until get it back stateside, hopefully in october if my reclass egoes through. by the time i get back ill have them but thats just immediate needs. truth be told i need a nismo pro gt lsd, some pro level axles, new brakes, new suspension or at least some double adjustable coilovers. prob gona need a cage too since ive seen people kicked off the track for running fast times with no cage(dragstrip and high speed tracks)

by input shaft im gona make an educated guess you mean driveshaft? i cant see anyone shooting the input shaft out of there transmission, unless its in pieces then its just grenading the trans =P they are also running wrinkle wall tires it looks like in the pics which no one on the street is going to be running and arnt they currently running almost 1300 hp in that car? when they where running 1k to the rear they had no issues. not many places running 1200+ so if theres two guys one has no problems one does its kinda hard to judge, i dint realize at first the busted anything at the higher power level =/

On a 27 tall tire I'm pretty sure they tore the input shaft ..definitely wasn't the driveshaft

hmmm kinda interesting, my guess is a fluke def not the norm. looking on there blog they must have put another cd009 in it because in 09 they where running a cd009 in it at 1250 hp when the driveshaft broke.

Thanks for you input. I search on the site for a few and couldn't find anything. Still learning all this stuff. Once the car is more than 50% paid off, i'm going to start investing some $$$ into it. I am not familiar with Z's at all.

that was on a stock 04 trans...which held up to 1248rwhp, the newer cd009's are much more stout. also, they broke the oil pump off and it hasnt been running since vince left. reid is working their now and turning things back around. now reid + vince would be an awesome combination.

The rear end is one of the last things to worry about. Whp isn't as much of a concern compared to how you drive it and put the power down. If you road race 700Whp you will most likely have better luck than someone with 500Whp drag racing on slicks

I would worry about axles, tires and clutch long before the rear end.

the mounts broke off inside. too much vibration, because the oem pump has a very minimal amount of play, but couldnt take the abuse. last i was there, they were figuring out a beefier mounting solution.

1.510 second 60ft with 28" slicks no issues on my car. Same exact track even.

With upgraded axles (dss pro) you should be good for any amount of WHP a VQ could possibly put down anything close to reliably. In otherwords, the rear end is the last thing you will worry about.
