I just scored what the seller says is a LSD rear diff. I started to doubt him, now im affraid to put the rear diff in and it not be.

<b>With the entire rear differential out of the car</b>, is there a way to tell if a rear diff is the LSD type?

I swallowed the pride by asking on here, so please keep the "how can you not know?!?" bits to yourself.

Im asking if theres visual proof on/in the diff that proves its not a base model open diff.

Grab one output shaft and turn it. The other should turn the same direction. If it goes counterclockwise it's probably open. That's the quickest way to find out

 

You can also take the cover off and take a pic for us

 

Hey,you live in the Atlanta area,take the diff over to Carrolton(Z-1 Motorsports)and ask John the head of the shop.I'm sure he'll let you know.You can also take it to Forged down the road on 41 in Marietta.If you can get their attention(usually a bit arrogant),they can let you know.

 

When i turn one of the outputs, the other turns same direction. im trying to take and load a pic of the cover off
